The 42nd Assembly of Parties of EUTELSAT took place virtually 24 and 25 March 2021 under the Chairmanship of Ms Ivana Stanković of Serbia with as Vice-Chair Ms Viviane Arni of Switzerland. The Executive Secretary of EUTELSAT IGO Mr Piotr Dmochowski-Lipski had the honour to host several prominent guests who addressed the Assembly during an opening ceremony – Mr Houlin Zhao (ITU), Ms Elodie Viau (ESA), Mr Moin Ahmed (IMSO), Mr Patrick Masambu (ITSO), Ms Ksenia Drozdova (Intersputnik) and Mr David Bertolotti (Eutelsat Communications S.A.) The speakers stressed the important role that satellite-based solutions can play in bridging digital inequalities and in meeting the need to increase universal connectivity in the face of the global challenge of the COVID epidemic.
The Assembly re-elected Mr Piotr Dmochowski-Lipski of Poland by acclamation to the post of Executive Secretary for a second term of four years to commence on 2 July 2021. The Assembly also appointed a new Advisory Committee composed for the next two years of the Parties of Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, France, Hungary, Italy, Poland, and Turkey.
On the second day of its meeting, the Assembly reviewed information from the Executive Secretary and from Eutelsat S.A. on this subject and noted that the company had complied with its commitments. A presentation on this matter was made by the Chief Executive Officer of Eutelsat Communications S.A. Mr Rodolphe Belmer, which was highly appreciated.
The meeting was coordinated from Paris by the EUTELSAT IGO Secretariat.
