The Fourteenth Tripartite Meeting between the Heads of the three intergovernmental satellite organisations took place in London at the invitation of Mr. Laurent Parenté, Director General of the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO). Mr. Piotr Dmochowski-Lipski, Executive Secretary of the European Telecommunications Satellite Organization (EUTELSAT IGO) and Mr. Patrick Masambu Director General of the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO) attended the meeting.
The Heads of the Organizations focused their discussion on key issues pertaining to the effective, reliable and meaningful operation of their intergovernmental Organization with a view to strengthening their oversight mission over their strategic satellite communication companies.
The Secretary-General, Mr. Kitack Lim of the International Maritime Organization joined the meeting and expressed his support for the work of the three Organisations, noting that they play a crucial role in the maritime industry by ensuring reliable and efficient connectivity at sea.
The role of intergovernmental organizations like EUTELSAT IGO, IMSO and ITSO in oversight of satellite communications is more vital than ever as it ensures that satellite communication activities adhere to international regulations, standards, and protocols, promoting fair and equitable access for all stakeholders.
